St. Paddy’s Day Race Becomes An Official Warm-up Race for the ASICS LA Marathon

The ASICS LA Marathon has just selected the 10th annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Walk and ‘Little Leprechaun Dash for the Gold, as an official warm-up race. The St. Patrick’s Day 5K Race, hosted by Village Runner, takes place March 3rd,  2013,  in Redondo Beach, CA.

The race qualified as an official ASICS LA Marathon warm-up event due to its long history and reputation as a high quality event. “It’s a fun, tune-up sprint for the long distance runners competing in the ASICS LA Marathon,” said Mike Ward, race director for the St. Patrick’s Day 5K.

The St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Walk anticipates over 2,500 runners taking the starting line. The race is a community celebration, with participants often choosing to run or walk in full St. Paddy’s Day outfits completely decked out in shamrocks, lucky beads, and green attire.   For the first time the race will feature a costume contest with gift certificates awarded in the costume contest to the winning individual costume and the winning team. Teams entries require five or more runners.   After the race, runners’ friends and their families can continue the St. Paddy’s race celebration at restaurants, bars, and shops in Riviera Village.

Entries are now open for the St. Paddy’s 5K Race! Prices are $30 for the 5K and $25 for the Kid’s Dash, with prices going up $5 for registration after 2/22/13. Same-Day Registration for the St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run/Community Walk starts at 6:30 a.m., the Walk begins at 8 a.m. and the Kid’s Dash starts at 9:30 a.m.  Pre-race packet pick-up is Saturday, March 2 from Noon – 7 p.m. at the Village Runner in Redondo Beach.  For more information and to register online, please visit www.villagerunner.com.

Race Results: LA Marathon 2012

Too bad we couldn’t have lucked out with the same weather as the 2012 LA Marathon for our St. Patrick’s Day 5K yesterday!  In any case, please see the link below for LA Marathon race results.  A special congratulations to our very own Tony Donagrechia for finishing sub-4 hours after working all day at our St. Patrick’s Day event starting at 4:30am and to our Village Runner, Ruth Jackson who also helped volunteer for our 5K on Friday and Saturday!  Hard workers and even harder runners…
