Redondo Beach Open Water Swim

2nd Annual Redondo Beach Open Water Swim

This Sunday we invite you to come “Swim the Avenues” and be part of the Second Annual Redondo Beach Open Water Swim on July 14, 2019. There will be a 1 mile swim as well as a ½ mile swim. This event is also an official “qualifying” swim for the Manhattan Beach Pier to Pier Swim. There will be a wet-suit and non-wet suit category. Online registration is open until tomorrow at noon.

Pick up your packets at the Village Runner in Redondo Beach on Saturday between noon and 4pm or on the day of the race starting at 6:30am. Race day registration is also available.

Manhattan Mile Road Race

2018 Manhattan Mile start.
Celebrate the Manhattan Grand Prix with us on July 21st as we bring back the coveted “Manhattan Mile” running event for the second year in a row!  The Manhattan Mile is a net-downhill race that will start and finish at Live Oak Park in Manhattan Beach.  All participants will receive a commemorative run t-shirt, plus there will be chip timing, $5,500 in potential cash awards to the top three overall male and female finishers, and awards to the top three male and female finishers in each age division.

New Manhattan Beach 10k Tops

The Manhattan Beach 10k is  throwin’ it back to their early days when these shirts debuted! We are now selling MB10k Training tanks and tees for $20 in our Manhattan Beach store. With each sale, we will donate $5 to the race so they can give back even more to the community! Get yours before they are gone and get training!

Central Park Cross Country Invitational
South Torrance girls placed 6th in the D2 Varsity race while the boys finished 3rd at the Central Park Cross Country Invitational in Huntington Beach.  Full individual and team results can be found here.

Clovis Cross Country Invitational
Redondo girls finish in first for the D1 Varsity race and boys finish 2nd!  Great job RUHS XC!
Bishop Montgomery was also represented at Clovis by senior, Danielle Shanahan, who placed 7th overall in the girl’s Division 5 race!

Torrance, RUHS non varsity, and El Segundo all raced at this weekend’s Warren Stauffer Invitational in South Gate.

Torrance – 2nd
RUHS – 3rd

RUHS – 2nd
Torrance – 9th
El Seguno – 13th

Manhattan Beach 10K
Meanwhile, Mira Costa HS ran at the 35th Annual Manhattan Beach 10K this Saturday.  For full race results, please visit here.  

Loyola Runner Connor Rafferty places 5th overall while Mira Costa boys – Chance, JC, and Tyler showed solidarity by finishing together for 20, 21, 22nd place.  Tyler barely beats his dad Mark by 12 seconds as they place 1st in the Father – Son Division.  Meanwhile, Vistamar runner Sophie Currin places first in her age division with a time of 40:06.

If you are need of some training runs, be sure to join in on our Village Runner fun runs held throughout the week!  
Monday: 
Redondo Beach, 7PM: Smallest gathering led by Team In Training Coach Ed Arenberg. This is a timed run that progresses week by week and the perfect run for beginners.

Tuesday: 
Redondo Beach, 6:15PM: Largest gathering with a variety of paces. The run goes along the Esplanade down to the Hermosa pier and back (or however long/short you’d like)!
Wednesday:
Redondo Beach, 6:15PM:  This is a new run starting from our store, led by Coach Jeff.  The runs will vary taking you through different trails in the South Bay.  For more information, visit here.
 
Thursday: 
Manhattan Beach, 6:15PM: Nice gathering with a variety of paces. The run will take you through the soft woodchip path in Manhattan Beach down to the Strand and through the beautiful streets of Manhattan Beach!
 
Sunday: 
Redondo Beach, 8:15AM: Small gathering of morning runners! This beautiful run will take you along the grassy strips of PV Blvd and into Palos Verdes to Bluff Cove and back!

35th Annual Manhattan Beack 10K – Registration is Now Open!

Sign up today for the 35th Annual Manhattan Beach 10K!  
There are two ways to register:

2.  Register in person at Village Runner Manhattan Beach.
     * Pay by cash, check, or charge.  There is a small convenience fee when signing up online or paying with charge cards in person.
     * Sorry, registration is not available at the Village Runner Redondo Beach

Women’s Vibrams on Super Clearance – Only $60!

For all the female minimalist runners that love running in Vibrams, we are having a super clearance on our women’s Vibram KSO and Vibram Bikila models.  Sizes and styles are limited so be sure to come by our Manhattan Beach location before they sell out!  For all you ladies that have been curious about the minimalist movement but didn’t want to commit to paying full price, this would be the perfect opportunity to finally try a pair out!  All sales on our clearance Vibrams are “All Sales Final”.

Finally, don’t forget to sign up for the Manhattan Beach 10K at our MB store!  Please don’t wait until the last day (Friday) to sign up and risk it selling out, because it will be crazy and we want you calm and relaxed for your fun run on Saturday morning!  For more info on the 10K, come by our store or check out http://www.mb10k.com/.  ** Update from one of the race organizers this morning:  as of last night there were only 850 race bibs remaining and for a point of reference, over 1000 people registered in the last three days last year. Be sure to hurry in and claim your number!

MB 10K – Today is the last day for online registration!

If you haven’t registered yet for the Manhattan Beach 10K, tonight is the last night to register online at Active.com.  Don’t forget that you can also register in person until September 30th at the Manhattan Beach Village Runner.  They accept debit/credit cards, cash, and checks.  There is a small surcharge for debit and credit transactions.  Sign up soon as some years the race does sell out!  Good luck to all participants next weekend!
