Our group has a variety of paces from fast to walking and everything in between and you can go as far or as short as you’d like with most runners covering 6 miles. Start your summer on the right foot in beautiful Manhattan Beach. Bring the whole family and run/walk during the lowest tide of the season. Race out and back along the water’s edge, then stay and play at the beach and enjoy the many fine bars and restaurants in downtown Manhattan Beach. You won’t find anything else like it!

Kids can do the 5K or compete in their own race after the main event in the LIttle Kid’s Dash. Adults have a chance to watch the youngsters race up and down at age appropriate distances. Cool awards and a chance to stand on the podium to the top five in the following divisions: 2 and under, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12. Bring the kids!

The MB5K starts and finishes under the Manhattan Beach Pier. Race out and back north to the jetty at 45th Street. The miles are marked with splits and “kick” markers from 400m to go guarantee your best finish. The super low tide creates a perfect running surface of hard packed sand like a dirt road so running with or without shoes is an option (the faster athletes tend to wear shoes). One can even wear track spikes! Baby joggers work great and are encouraged as the kids love being that close to the sea.

This is a great way to try new shoes and to meet some new runners in the South Bay. There is a large variety of paces running and walking between 3-7 miles every week.
The runners leave by 6:15pm so be sure to arrive any time after 5:30pm to get fitted with the right size demo shoes! Metered parking in the Riviera Village is free after 6pm.

Village Runner will be hosting packet pickup at the Village Runner in Redondo Beach on Friday, August 12th, for the 35th Annual The Hills Are Alive 10K/5K. Packet pickup hours are from 10am to 6pm. Below are more details on the event!
The Rolling Hills Estates Pepper Tree Foundation is pleased to present the 35th annual “The Hills Are Alive 10K/5K Run – 5K Walk,” which will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 8:00 am. This year the Botanic Garden Loop Trail will not be included in the 10K race course with a new start location in Howlett Park (the regular 10K course returns in 2017).
Participants will enjoy running or walking on soft-packed bridle trails throughout scenic Rolling Hills Estates. The race will start and finish at Ernie Howlett Park, 25851 Hawthorne Boulevard.
Custom-designed finishers Medals for all walkers and runners. Plaques will also be handed out to the top male and female runners for both runs.

Pre-Race Packet Pickup & Registration
Visit Village Runner, 1811-A Catalina Ave., Redondo Beach (310-375-2626) on Friday, August 12 from 10 a.m.to 6 p.m. to pick up your race packet and to register for the race. Otherwise, race packets will be distributed just prior to the start of the event.
Entry forms are available online and at RHE City Hall. The registration fee is $30 for participants who sign up in advance or $40 for those who sign up on race day. Participants may also sign up in person at RHE City Hall during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“Every year our group does an annual conference for the VHL Community. VHL or von Hippel Lindau is a rare genetic cancer syndrome. These conferences travel all over the US. This year we’re in Manhattan Beach. After our conference, on Sunday, September 25th, we are coordinating a 5k Fun Run/Walk on The Wood Chip Trail at 9am. $25 for the registration and you get a VHL Warrior Tee Shirt.

work of Dr. Linda Liau’s team at UCLA’s Department of Neurosurgery, The neural tumor team at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles/USC Keck School of Medicine and the Department of Neurosurgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Annual Cal CPA & Sean Brock Foundation 5K & 10K Run
The Sean Brock Foundation was developed to provide resources and educational assistance to the families of our true heroes. The goal for this foundation is to provide scholarships to support the families of our fallen or wounded service members.
Join us on July 23rd at 9:00am (race start) for a fun yet challenging, fast paced 5K and 10K route that takes you the service roads of Dockweiler State Beach. Thank you for choosing this race, your support is greatly appreciated.
